Spring into the Season: Our Favorite Must-Watch Movies for Springtime
Need Some Movies To Binge This Springtime? - Look No Further Than My Recommendations.
The winter season has finally come to an end, and for many of us, our favourite time of year has arrived—spring. When we think of spring, we picture flowers beginning to bloom, the sun shining brighter, and the temperature rising. It’s that perfect time when the weather is just warm enough to enjoy outdoor cinemas with friends, making us feel like we’re in that iconic drive-in scene from Grease. For cinephiles alike, there are a handful of films to watch during the springtime that kick the season off on a high…and no I’m not talking about the pollen count.
Pride and Prejudice (2005)
Nothing embodies springtime quite like a period rom-com drama set in the countryside, bringing Jane Austen’s timeless enemies-to-lovers romance to life. With its warm and cozy atmosphere, lovable characters, and unforgettable dialogue, Pride and Prejudice has captivated audiences since its release, with the undeniable tension between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy cementing them as one of the most iconic book-to-screen couples in history.
La La Land (2016)
It’s no surprise this film made the list, after all, it beautifully unfolds over the course of spring at one point. La La Land perfectly encapsulates love, ambition, self-doubt, and the lingering “what ifs,” all brought to life by the undeniable chemistry between Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. With a timeless soundtrack, breathtaking visuals and utterly beautiful old American aesthetic over the seasons, this modern classic is the perfect watch for the spring.
A Bugs Life (1998)
A bit of a rogue addition to the list, but one of my favourite guilty pleasure animations. A Bugs Life is a fun, vibrant film with a wonderfully heartwarming story about the tiny creatures that call nature home. With fantastic voice acting, a brilliantly motivated villain, and a charming cast of critters, each bringing something unique to the table, this movie is a delightful watch—especially with kids or family.
Bambi (1942)
Few films capture the essence of spring quite like Bambi. With blooming flowers, woodland creatures, and sunlight filtering through the trees, it’s the perfect watch for the season. A timeless staple in Disney’s illustrious filmography, Bambi enchants audiences with its lovable characters, Bambi, Thumper, and Flower, alongside breathtaking scenery and stunning animation for it’s time that radiates springtime magic. This film will wrap you in warm, cozy nostalgia, but don’t forget to have tissues ready for the ending…
The Sound of Music (1965)
Spring is the perfect time to revisit one of the greatest musicals of all time—The Sound of Music. This film beautifully captures the essence of the season, from its breathtaking scenery of rolling hills, blooming flowers, and golden sunshine to its unforgettable, feel-good songs performed by the brilliant Julie Andrews and the ensemble cast. With its uplifting energy and timeless charm, The Sound of Music is a must-watch for spring.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)
Heyyy, batter batter! With the arrival of spring, it only feels right to revisit films that radiate bright energy and feel-good vibes—making Ferris Bueller’s Day Off the perfect choice. With its insanely lovable characters, sharp humor, and unforgettable moments of dialogue, this classic never fails to entertain. Packed with charm and timeless appeal, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is a springtime must-watch that will never go out of style.
10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
Springtime dances, parties, prom, and iconic fashion—when it comes to rom-coms that capture the essence of spring, 10 Things I Hate About You is a standout. Beyond its undeniably captivating cast, the film’s high school aesthetic, brilliantly woven dual-storyline narrative, and heartfelt moments make it a must-watch for the season. It’s the perfect blend of nostalgia, romance, and charm—an essential springtime classic.
Notting Hill (1999)
I’m just a girl, standing in front of her subscribers, asking them to rewatch Notting Hill this spring—and fall in love with it all over again. The undeniable yet conflicting romance between Anna and William is captivating, set against the charming and vibrant backdrop of London. With a fantastic story, lovable characters, and a beautifully timeless aesthetic, this film is the perfect feel-good watch—no matter how many times you’ve seen it.
