Civil War was definitely an interesting watch! Dune wasn't my favorite, but I did love Challengers.

Lot of wild stuff I've seen this year. Haven't even kept track, but LOVE LIES BLEEDING stands high above the others right now.

challengers is the only film from your list i've watched and i agree that the churro scene, which was somewhat improvised is the defining scene of the movie, completely exploring the sexuality of the characters and their twisted relationships

Just looking at your writing skill. It’s as good as a top publication goes. Are you already a journalist?

I don't think 2024 has been a good year in film. Most of your top 5 are sequels or franchise films which means they lack originality. Civil War is one of the worst films I have seen in some time, sure the world of the film is amazing and immersive, but the story is so cliched - young up and coming photo-journalist is mentored by experienced veteran, before taking her place (and literally stepping over her dead body without showing any concern or emotion), and the purpose of the civil war rebels is unclear other than wishing to murder the president. There are many far better war films with something meaningful to say... Paths to Glory, Full Metal Jacket, All Quiet on the Western Front, The Longest Day, Gallipoli. But if you watch just one war film watch Joyeux Noel, it's based on a true story and it restores your faith in humanity, which is something we desperately need right now given what we see on the news every night.
